We are hosting a Beyond Blue Long Lunch for Mental Health on Friday October 25 to support mental health support services in the community and discuss mental health wellbeing and fitness, with a focus on including as many young people as possible.

Supported by Campaspe Shire Council, the First National Real Estate Foundation and Coolabah Turf, this event aims to bring the community together to find out more about mental health support services and importantly what mental health fitness is.

Our event MC, Brad McEwan has been a Beyond Blue Ambassador for 10 years and is a passionate mental health advocate. Brad talks openly about his family’s experience of mental health issues, and the impact of losing his father and brother to suicide.

Guest speaker Warren Davies will share his heartbreaking and inspirational story surrounding his own mental health journey and how he now works closely with regional and rural communities to support better mental health. Warren, known as The Unbreakable Farmer, will discuss the importance of mental health in everyday life and how he supports communities in recovery.

Our CLK Long Lunch for Mental Health is an official Beyond Blue Big Blue Table initiative and aims to support all members of the community to better recognise and maintain a healthy level of mental health fitness and also know where to seek support.

Representatives from Echuca’s mental health services including  headpspace Echuca and Mental Health and WellBeing The Local from Echuca Regional Health will speak on a panel with other mental health experts to discuss what support is available and how to best look after yourself and those you love. Wellbeing team members from local secondary schools across the community will also share how to access support, as well as a member of the regional StandBy Program, which supports families after suicide.

We will also hear from Echuca local and youth educator Rory Kirkby of the The Rollie Project, who creates community mentoring opportunities and programs for young people to develop a greater sense of self and belonging. Rory’s work stems from five years working as an education advocate for children in neuro-developmental psychiatric care at the Monash Children’s Hospital.

All funds raised at our CLK Long Lunch for Mental Health will be distributed to local mental health services, thanks to a generous raffle donation from Rich Glen, and you can also sponsor our event by buying a seat at the table for a young person in your life who could benefit from attending.

We are grateful to a handful of local businesses and individuals, including Suzi and Brad Shearer and NAB Bank Echuca, who have purchased additional tickets to be given away and will ensure we have young people at the table.

Cost is $65/head, which buys you a 2-course meal in the delightful Radcliffe’s Restaurant Courtyard, plus a sweet treat and tea and coffee.

Importantly, this is an ALCOHOL-FREE event. Secure your seat at the table ASAP as numbers are limited. Ticket sales close Friday October 18 at midnight.
